On November 18th, I took a group of about 10 elementary school students, as well as their families, for a hike as a weekend activity for their school. We discussed plant identification and appreciated the nature around us as we walked. Not only was it educational, but it also gave the kids and families a chance to explore and connect with each other. We also worked collaboratively on a scavenger hunt to find different elements of the trail. It was very rainy for a large portion of the hike, but the kids didn’t mind and had lots of fun with it. I received many comments from families and leaders hoping to do an activity like this again! They were also lucky to spot a great blue heron flying above, as well as some geese and ducks!
